April 11, 2021 - Cass and Alex got married at Olowalu Plantation House, our favorite venue in Maui. And, funny enough, Zach and I actually got married here ourselves a month prior to Cass and Alex's big day. It created a really fun relationship between Cass and I; we bonded over activities we planned to do in Maui, what vendors we were hiring, covid restrictions, and more! I recently blogged Our Wedding Experience (Zach and I's), if you want to take a look!
Olowalu Plantation House is an ocean-side location, surrounded by mountains and massive palm trees. It really ticks all the boxes you'd want in a Hawaii wedding venue. Seeing Cass and Alex's guests arrive "ooo-ing" and "ahhh-ing" over the space was really special. Trust me when I say, you can't beat Olowalu Plantation House.
We were booked as both the videographer and the photographer for this wedding, and had so much fun capturing the love between these two beautiful people. When asking Cass and Alex how they wanted their video/photos to make them feel, they responded: "we want to feel the beauty of Maui and also the happiness/love of everyone there." Personally, I think we nailed it! Take a look!

Cass and Alex's review: "We absolutely loved our wedding film. It captured all the important moments and the beauty of Maui just like we wanted. The quality of the drone shots and camera footage was so unreal. The music chosen had such a great flow with the clips too. Katie and Zack were so much fun to work with and they had such good vibes on our special day. We would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to do a destination wedding as they will go above and beyond to make it so scenic, beautiful, and capture every detail so you will always feel like you are reliving those special moments again!"
Cass and Alex finished up getting ready, and decided to do a first look with each other. We love when couples go this route; seeing your person often gets rid of any stress or pre-ceremony jitters. It also allows for the day-of timeline to flow more smoothly; there's more time for bridals portraits, bridal party, and even family shots sometimes!
We will never get sick of Olowalu Plantation House's ceremony site - right by the ocean with a perfectly placed palm tree. It's just SO HAWAII. Cass and Alex actually had a native Hawaiian officiate their wedding, and he did such a beautiful job of incorporating Hawaiian culture, as well as centering the message around the couple.
I'm not sure why, but these family shots ended up being some of my favorite of the evening! I love the lush Maui greenery in the background, and the absolute JOY radiating from this group of people. Months before the wedding, Cass lost one of her best friends and bridesmaids; her mother was also unable to attend due to illness. Therefore, seeing her people wrap around her, support her, and celebrate her was so beautiful.
Walking into this reception was out of a dream! Makena Weddings did, and always does, such an incredible job transforming this space; Aloha Bars Maui crafted up the cutest and tastiest drinks; and Cass and Alex's friends and family gave sweet speeches, toasting the happy couple. Once the lights went down, this rowdy group danced their absolute bums off, which was way too much fun to capture (haha). Groomsmen went shirtless and bridesmaids whipped their hair back and forth like Beyonce!
